Mediation Bookends: Assessing Suitability & Preparing Participants and Closing a Mediation

Franca   holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and a Master of Business Administration   both from Adelaide University.  She is   admitted to the Supreme Courts of South Australia and England and Wales.  After working as a lawyer for some years she moved to academia. Her experience   includes over 20 years teaching at Flinders and Adelaide Universities and since 2011 for the Australian National University. Franca is an experienced dispute resolution professional and skilled adult educator.    She delivers training and provides assessment, consultancy, mentoring, professional supervision and dispute resolution services in negotiation, facilitation, restorative engagement, mediation and conflict management coaching for a number of organizations and tertiary education providers. Franca was the Secretary and a founding Director of the Australian Mediator Standards Board (MSB) from 2010-2013 &amp; from 2014-2015 managed the MSB Review of Standards Project. She is Vice-Chair of the Law Society of South Australia ADR Committee.    Franca   has performed a range of roles including Regional Advisor to the Australian   Public Service Commission; conciliator for the Financial Services Complaints Resolution Scheme and Flinders University; external Senior   Case Officer for the Child Support Agency; legal member Drug Assessment and Aid Panel   and Chiropractic and Osteopathy Board and facilitator for the Defence Abuse Response Taskforce. Franca currently works as a   part-time Conference Registrar for the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and is part of their Dispute Resolution and Integrated Dispute Management committees. She mediates in areas including administrative, commercial, workplace, personal injury and family and conducts restorative engagement conferences in matters involving   allegations of sexual and other abuse for the Catholic Church and the Commonwealth Ombudsman.  She is on the ReturntoWorkSA and Magistrates, District and Supreme Court mediator panels. </p><p> Franca seeks to assist people to manage conflict in a way that restores collaboration and respect and values all contributions.
